Doing what I do ...

Creative Inspiration

Some people ask where I draw my inspiration from, and the answer? - It could be anywhere or anything.
I am greatly inspired by the beauty of nature and colour; real colour and the colours people paint in my imagination. My beautiful friend Abby, whose colours are the colour of sunshine has often been a source of inspiration to me. She is a weaver and loves strong, rich, bright colours.
I have drawn inspiration from soft apricots, warm oranges and deeper earthy hues - these have woven their way through many of my floral designs this year. The wedding of my wonderful friend and colleague Carole Fitzgerald's [of Lazy Sunday] daughter Kirsty featured marvellous hot colours, - vibrant oranges, hot pink, sunflower yellows and many more. The overall feel was joyous with a hint of South America.

A Merry Little Christmas

Another year and the Christmas season has almost passed. This year I chose to decorate Dove Cottage with natural silvery greens, whites and mercuried silver...and a subtle dash of red here and there for festive warmth. I have draped these lovely little candles over my trees for more than twenty years now, and hung the exquisite hand blown glass baubles too. This encapsulates Christmas for Emma and Marc, and us generally as a family.
Hope you have all had a magical Christmas!

Gill Artwork Update

Some Winter studies...
*Not all of these calamities are necessarily true. e.g. We have not experienced personal flooding, although it is true that Kilmartin was cut off by flooding last weekend. The only part that is definitively true is 'alien invasion'. We have a new Jack Russell Terrier, or 'loon-bug'.
